Emotional support provided by the Inquiry

The wellbeing of those engaging with the Inquiry is important to the Chair and her team.

The Terms of Reference require the Inquiry to examine the circumstances surrounding the Nottingham attacks so as to establish what happened and make recommendations.

We know that thinking and talking about these or similar events can be extremely difficult and can bring back distressing memories and feelings for those affected by them.

That is why the Inquiry has contracted Hestia, who are specialists in trauma-informed emotional support, to provide emotional support to Core Participants, witnesses and respondents to our questionnaire.

Hestia can help you to:

  • talk openly about your experiences, feelings, and concerns related to the subject matter of the Inquiry or your engagement with the Inquiry;
  • learn practical techniques to manage distressing emotions and memories; and
  • develop coping strategies to support your wellbeing during the Inquiry.

To access support, please call 0808 175 2356 and leave your details. A member of Hestia’s Therapeutic Interventions team will contact you within two working days to carry out an initial needs assessment and discuss next steps.

Please be aware that the support available through Hestia is focused on your engagement with the Inquiry and is not intended as long-term counselling. If you need ongoing support for mental health or well-being concerns not directly linked to the Inquiry, we would encourage you to speak to your GP or consider contacting other support services.

Emotional support during the hearings

Additional support will be available to Core Participants and witnesses during the hearings, which are planned to take place from February to May 2026.

Information on how you can access this support will be available closer to the time.
